After Transcendence

I saw that Rotten Tomatoes gave Transcendence a 19%. Uh, not what I would give it. I liked it, found it entertaining and thought provoking. I thought the acting was fine, not great, but not bad. Of course, Paul Bettany was amazing as always. I can always feel his characters’ emotions, whether he’s gilding the lily, or an Opus Dei fanatic.  Also in this were Johnny Depp, Morgan Freeman, Cillian Murphy, and Rebecca Hall. Watch it, if not in the theatre, rent it. Don’t miss out because some people are too cynical to just be entertained.

Transcendence

It’s time! A movie about one of the topics my husband loves to debate with me about. Uploading a person’s consciousness into something else. In our debates, he wants his mind in a “robot”, synthetic human, whatever you want to call it. I argue that I wouldn’t want that, and that when it’s time to die, it’s time to die. Surgery, medications, that’s one thing. Downloading consciousness into another vessel? I’ll pass.

So off we go tonight to see the movie, and I’m sure we’ll end up having quite a conversation about it after, into the night, and possibly tomorrow. One thing about my husband, he’s very intelligent, and fun to debate with. His consciousness would definitely be worth keeping.

The King

The King
The King by J.R. Ward

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Just like the other books in this series, I found the characters lives fascinating, and totally entertaining. It was over too fast!

Children

Even when a child is no longer a “little” one, he or she can still cause just as much stress and worry in the parent’s lives.

My 17 y/o has been having gastrointestinal issues off an on for years, and things just seem to keep getting worse for her. We’ve tried the last trick her doctor said we have before doing testing, and she has an appointment today to see what that will be. Seeing and hearing her so miserable just kills me; and searching on the internet for any home help ideas or advice has been difficult.

I have the same problem, and I have since I was her age. I still will have waves of nausea come over me and feel faint, but I’ve learned to deal with it because I’m told there’s nothing wrong. She’s my kid though, and enough is enough. I’m afraid the vomiting is going to damage her esophagus, and then of course there is the problem that is causing this. She’s lost a lot of weight, and although she is trying to lose weight, I think it’s been too fast. I don’t know, sometimes I feel like I’m overreacting, and other times I feel like I’ve waited too long. But, we’ve been seeing a doctor, and I will continue to be vigilant from now on.

This needs to be resolved. I’m out of patience, and my daughter deserves better.

Everquest..What?

So my husband and I said “WTF”, and started playing Everquest again. We killed 3 hours like it was nothing. Surprisingly, it was so fun!

We met in EQ in…2000 I think it was (Could have been 1999), and were married in 2002. So, with our 11th anniversary coming up next month, I think we got a little nostalgic.

Yeah, that’s crazy, right? Frickin’ EQ, lol.

Jenny Pox (The Paranormals, #1)Jenny Pox by J.L. Bryan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was a free offer from I love Vampire Novels. I am so glad I got it! It’s not a vampire novel, but it does fall into the young adult category, heavy on the “adult”. I was hooked from the very beginning, and was pleasantly surprised as questions were answered. I will most certainly be reading the next book in the series. Well done Mr. Bryan.
